Multi-Grains (Wheat, Jowar, Ragi, Soya)

Multi-grains are gaining popularity worldwide due to their superior nutritional value compared to refined grains. We deal in a wide range of multi-grains including wheat, jowar (sorghum), ragi (finger millet), and soya. These grains are widely used for making breads, rotis, breakfast cereals, and health-based snacks, catering to the rising demand for functional foods across the world.

Production in India

India is a leading producer of all four grains:

  • Wheat: India is the second-largest wheat producer globally, with an annual output of 110-120 million metric tons. The major wheat-growing states include Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, and Madhya Pradesh.

  • Jowar: India produces around 5 million metric tons of jowar annually, with Maharashtra, Karnataka, and Telangana being the top contributors. Jowar is known for its drought-resistant nature, making it a staple in semi-arid regions.

  • Ragi: Karnataka leads India’s ragi production, contributing over 50% of the total 1.5-2 million metric tons produced annually. Ragi is valued for its high calcium content and gluten-free nature.

  • Soya: India produces around 12 million metric tons of soybeans, mainly grown in Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, and Rajasthan. Soya is widely used for oil extraction, protein supplements, and plant-based food products.

The increasing shift towards organic and minimally processed grains has further boosted demand in both domestic and international markets.

Health Benefits & Global Demand

  • Rich in Fiber and Protein: Multi-grains provide high dietary fiber and protein content, promoting better digestion and muscle health.

  • Gluten-Free Alternatives: Jowar, ragi, and soya are gluten-free, catering to the growing number of consumers with gluten intolerance or celiac disease.

  • Diabetes and Heart Health: Whole grains help regulate blood sugar and cholesterol levels, making them beneficial for diabetics and heart patients.

  • Calcium and Iron Boost: Ragi is particularly known for its high calcium (344 mg per 100g), while soya is an excellent source of iron and plant-based omega-3s.

The global multi-grain flour market is projected to grow at a CAGR of 5.6%, with increasing consumer preference for nutrient-dense, organic, and non-GMO grains. India is a significant exporter of these grains to Europe, North America, and the Middle East, where demand for healthy alternatives is on the rise.

As consumers worldwide become more health-conscious, multi-grains are emerging as an essential part of wholesome, functional diets, solidifying India’s role as a key supplier in this growing industry.
